I am polling because I don't believe that anybody knows the speed limit between 800W in Saratoga Springs and the Golf course in EM.

You'll be sad to hear they are dropping it to 55 mph both ways in the next month.

I think that is part of the answer. The other part is UDOT is adding two more dorky stop lights between the Golf Course and Redwood Road. I think one is 800W and the other one is either Walmart or something to do with the gravel pit to help get their trucks out. I don't remember exactly because I was too busy fuming that I think their goal is to not allow people to actually drive through Saratoga Springs. They are increasing the speed limit West of Ranches Pkwy to 60 mph instead of 55.

Well the reason I opened this up for discussion is because I have never gone the speed limit down that hill, not any time in the past 4 years. This is because I get behind somebody either directly, or 4-5 cars back who is going between 50 or 55 down the hill. I want to flash a sign to them that it is 65mph. If I try to give them a hint by getting a little close they do the dumb thing and slam on their breaks. Udot has one sign that is hard to catch at the top of the hill right after the merge from the golf course then the next sign is the 55 mph sign.

This is not good news about the speed limit change and more lights, this is just going to make morning and afternoon commutes worse in good weather, and non moving in rain or snow.

I cannot wait for the new Pony Express road to be finished to Redwood Rd.

OK, full admission: I am an impatient driver. Seriously, I try to not curse those who have nowhere to be and appear to be oblivious while I travel through life with a sense of urgency. I’m working on patience, but will not lose my sense of urgency.

B-hockey, slow inattentive drivers plague every road I drive on. 85% are on their cell phone or texting. Those drivers don’t know and don’t care about anything. The remaining percentage probably think it’s their duty to drive slow because they know others want to drive fast. Squatters.

Unfortunately, posting speed limit signs every 10 feet will do nothing in either of these instances. I jokingly refer to the "Lehi Main 40" with my wife. Going east or west, rain or shine, night or day, on Lehi Main/SR73 from the circle to SR68 goes from 35 to 45 to 55 to 45. But, the lead car always does ... 40. Texting, talking, squatting, eating ... this list goes on. Trying to stay calm and leave early is the only thing you have left. Like I said, I'm working on it.

Also, all of the current road improvements in our area will be final when traffic lights get installed.

Example: Redwood Rd. – there will be 8 traffic lights going north to Bangerter in the near future.

Example: SR 73 – there are two lights getting installed very soon with at least two more in the works.

Pioneer Crossing and 1200 North will also be peppered with stop lights. I’ll also bet good money that Pony Express will need a light at Pony Express/Ranches once the new improved roads open. It’s already very busy and traffic will increase significantly when PE and Pioneer are done.

These roads were not installed to expedite our travel, they were installed to eliminate congestion.

Oh boy, I totally agree with that statement. I travel north on the BRAND NEW redwood road project and I am always behind somebody in the LEFT lane doing just that. going slower than the posted speed limit (in good weather conditions) talking or txting on the phone. I am not an aggressive driver. I am also not a stay in the right lane going less than the speed limit driver either, I am somewhere in between. I have got to where if I am the guy right behind the suspect car going slow txting etc. I will flash my lights. I do want people to know, this is not equal to me giving the middle finger! This is me gently, kindly letting you know I want to be ahead of you and if you want to daddle along here, please do it in the right lane. This usually prompts people to slam on their brakes or slow down on purpose or give me the horn and finger. This really bothers me as the LAW states "keep right except to pass" on all highways. This is clearly stated on the section of road going west that started this discussion, but I EVERY day pass people or get behind people, who insist on staying in the left land going 50-55 mph.

Please remember all that read this, be a good driver, keep to the right, and if you don't want to go the speed limit, don't want to know the speed limit, or just don't care, let people pass you and don't be mad about it!
